The story:

I always sang along with the song, because it's just so darned singable. But I always had this uneasy feeling that the words just didn't feel -right-. I attributed it to bad songwriting. I couldn't figure out why they called Sherry a "him." My husband ever-so-gently corrected my erroneous lyric-singing, to my embarrassment.
