A number of friends & I were at the concert where they premiered
In A Gadda Da Vida at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. A few weeks
later when the album came out we realized all of us were wrong
about the title.

The correct words indeed are "in the Garden of Eden" but when they recorded it they slurred the pronunciation and the mondegreen stuck.

The song actually is based on their lead singer one night getting stoned & slurring the words "in the garden of Eden"
